Excerpt from this Episode…

One of the things people comment on about our body of believers is that we are just happy people. Employers love that. They love to hire us and be around us. At the same time we know that in the world right now. The world is becoming increasingly troubled and depressed. People are feeling bad inside and do not know how to get out of it. They don’t know what makes a happy person tick.  We definitely want to be around happy people because happiness is contagious, and you want that feeling -just as bitterness, bad moods and depression are contagious. You know you don’t want to be around that. That is one reason why we want to continue to bring up the subject each quarter of the series and make sure that we are using a barometer to see what is in our heart.  Unhappy people can bring you down, and you don’t want to be one of them.  As Christians we are to be happy – and you will be if you have the spirit of God in you. One of the true facts about God’s personality is that when He is in us, we are happy – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control.  We also know from the Bible that God is the source of happiness and that He is happy. Do you ever think about that? God is happy.   It says in Matthew 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

A parable that Jesus told paralleling God. In heaven we will share God’s happiness and it is contagious – so all of heaven is happy, and that is a fun thought.

We also know that happiness is a gift… Ecclesiastes 2:26,

“To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God.”

It is a gift, and God is happy and we are commanded to be happy and have that spirit of happiness. So how do we get this – and what is the difference of this happiness of true Saints and those that are laughing and attempting to be happy or conjuring it up but at home are really depressed?  When they get still enough without anything going on, they know down deep that something is wrong. Well, I do want to say that the main thing that we have to have is eyes in the back of our head. If we could just close our physical eyes and just look back here and look at everything you have been given. Don’t look ahead at what you could be getting–what you think you want and looking for something else. That greed of  thinking you’ve been given all this stuff yet you want the next thing and the next thing, and then if you can’t get it you are unhappy. If you just were blind on the front side and had eyes in the back and you were looking back at what happened yesterday and the day before and the day before from your birth on and all the Heavenly Father has given you and your health and you were just counting it up making this long list and that is all you looked at every day then you would be happy.
